I know this "Everyday Math" is all the rage, but seriously, at the end of a long day, why do I have to make sense of 28-10+2 when I'm trying to figure out the answer to 28-8? If you're doing subtraction, you're supposed to be subtracting!
I have two adorable children, Princess who is 9 and Prince who is 4. I am also a wife, corporate lawyer and grateful daughter (because my mom lives with me and helps me to stay sane). I constantly feel like I'm running a marathon, despite the fact that I spend the greater part of every day sitting in one spot. I think it's the race in my mind - keeping all the dates, times neatly (or not so neatly) tucked away in my mind for all the people who rely on me to get them where they need to be on the right day and at the right time. Tip No. 1 - pick your battles. You don't need to be right all the time and you don't need to get your way all the time (after all you're a parent, not a kid). Decide what your non-negotiable points are and for the others ... no harm, no foul.
